Three Upcoming Farm Auctions in the Region

February 2015

With the increase in number of farms sold this summer, the Auction process has returned to favour and Bayleys report that they will be auctioning three farms in the Wanganui Region over the next month.

One opportunity that has been presented is for the astute Dairy Farm purchaser to own a well set up slightly over 111 hectare unit, situated almost on the Wanganui/Taranaki district boundary, at 2040 State Highway 3, Maxwell.

This property is in only its’ 4th year since conversion and subsequently comes with a very tidy assortment of infrastructure including the 26 cup herringbone cowshed and very well designed A1 home. The owners are moving to a larger property as they expand their dairy operation.

The home sits on an elevated sight offering expansive views across the farm, neighbouring farmland and beyond out to sea. Being modern and of low maintenance construction it will be a pleasure for any family to move in and enjoy.

The current owners are forecasting to produce 115,000kg MS from the 225 cow herd, with just over 96,000kg MS produced last season. The cowshed is setup for simple allocation of supplementary feed with an in-shed PPP system, complete with two silos and a mixer/crusher.

Bayleys agents, Dean File & Knud Bukholt are offering this property for sale by Auction at 1pm on Wednesday 25th February at the Waverley Community Centre.

In the North of the region, Peter Stratton is marketing two farms by auction. The first is a 243 hectare hill country farm located at 434 Ridge Road South only 17 kilometres from Taihape.

It comfortably winters up to 2,400 stock units lambing up to 135%, producing fat and forward store lambs. Boasting a brand new set of cattle yards plus improvements that include a cosy and tidy four bedroom home, this farm benefits from a reliable summer rainfall, clean dams and good access.

Mr Stratton says this easy to run property is consistent and reliable, and presents a great opportunity for first-time buyers. It will be auctioned at the Utiku Old Boys Clubrooms at 2pm on Friday the 20th February.

The other exciting opportunity is 199 hectares at 414 Koeke Road, 8 kilometres from Mataroa in the heart of a tightly held and reliable farming district. Featuring over 60 hectares of cultivated contour being mostly Ohakune Silt Loam, this easy to run farm has a strong fertiliser history, and a high standard of conventional fencing with well-maintained stock facilities including a modern four stand woolshed, plus a tidy and sound well maintained Bungalow with three bedrooms and an office, on a separate title.

Bayleys will auction this farm at 2pm on 6th March 2105 at the Taihape Workingmans Club.
